Gray Nautical Nails

Believe it or not, this is a gradient but unfortunately, one of the colours that I had picked out didn't show up that well when sponging.  Instead, I pretty much got the base from the one colour and the shimmer from the second one.  But sometimes that's just how doing your nails go; they don't always turn out as we expect but I went with it anyway!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Love & Beauty gray.

These are the two polishes I used; the gray for the base, then both for the gradient.

This was the end result of the gradient.  I sponged quite a few times and the seafoam just wasn't showing up so I just left it.  It's too bad; I think it would have been a pretty colour combination.  And would have gone well with the nautical stamping.

Stamped using an image from Star Nails 10 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

This weeks FB Adventures in Stamping challenge was stamping with an accent nail.  This is what I came up with.

Started with a base of three coats of Love & Beauty Gunmetal/Multi.

DSC06303-2

Stamped with black Konad special polish using GA29 with an accent of GA30 using red Konad special polish for the Gals Fairy set.

Added a few random black dots as well as a couple in the centre of the flower on the accent flower.

Topped with SV.

GA 29 and 30 are part of the Gals Fairy set which was part of my last giveaway....speaking of which, a winner was chosen with random.org not to long ago and the name chosen was....

vwolfe!!!

vwolfe was emailed, responded and replied; the Gals Fairy set is on the way to her!

Edit:  vwolfe has sent an email confirming that her plates were received!!

Gals Fairy and Princess image plate sets can be ordered from Cheeky's website directly, as well as Amazon.  This is the first time that I've used these plates and I had no problems at all; they stamped well  and there were a lot of full size images which I always love to see!

Thanks to the 25 entries received on the post...and a reminder that I'm doing random giveaways for those who follow and happen to see the giveaways mentioned in the posts...this was the second random giveaway since I've been holding them...who knows when the next one will be...but I can say that I do have more plates....and polishes.....already set aside for future giveaways!

Hope you had a great weekend....and thanks for looking!

Giveaway Results!!! Plus the Reason why Konad was Created...

Saturday morning, I had a few minutes to put together everything for my recent 300+ follower giveaway. Before I announce the winners, a huge "thank you" again for everyone who has ever checked out my little blog! A little over a year ago, I started this blog to just keep track of the stamping I've done. I was pleasantly surprised when I got my very first follower, Susie1955, and it has grown by follower by follower. I never would have thought over 500 people would be interested to see whats on my nails....so thank you so much!!!

Now onto the results! In total, there were 304 entries. The first name drawn was Zsofc who will receive OPI Serena Glam Slam in Spark de Triomphe and White Shatter, with the four OPI polishes What's Dune?, Merry Midnight, Coral Reef and Glacier Bay Blues.*

The second name drawn drawn was Elizabeth at Life & Polish, who will receive the second shatter set, OPI Serena Glam Slam in Rally Pretty Pink and Red Shatter and the same four OPI polishes.

And lastly, ct1980 over at I Colour Outside the Line (who I'm guessing is a fellow Canuck by the way 'colour' is spelled!! What's the chances of THAT!!), who will receive prize 3 being the four OPI polishes.

Congrats everyone!!! Emails have already been sent out and they have 48 hours to reply or another name will be drawn for the appropriate prize.

I'm really bummed that Canada Post is on strike (as far as I know, unless its resolved now) so unfortunately, there will be a delay in getting these out to as there's no mail service in Canada right now, so I'm sorry about this but its beyond my control! But they will be mailed out as soon as I can!

I recently was at the mall and peeked into Forever 21 to see whats new and picked up a few polishes. This Love & Beauty polish was marked Light Gray and as I was really liking the gold shimmer, thought I'd use it for my next mani.

Whoa...nail fail! I was not liking this at all..frosty...streaky...blah!! All I could think of was, this is why Konad was developed! To cover up polish fails! LOL! I wanted to use a stamp that covered up A LOT of the polish....decided upon fauxnad A44 using Konad black special polish. For some reason, I was strangely fascinated by how it looked before cleanup so decided to take a pix....

And after cleanup...urggh...while I really like the results of using black special polish, the cleanup is terrible and this was the best I could get despite taking (that I felt was a) long time to clean up.

And then, decided to add a couple swatches of multicolour glitter. This pix isn't the best, but the end result was pretty cool...a good way to cover up the polish nail fail if nothing else. I really wasn't feeling this many at all, so this mani only stayed on for around 24 hours. That's the great thing about nail fail...just an excuse to change your mani the next day!

Here's my highly sophisticated method of choosing the winners....

Congrats to everyone and thanks for looking!

Update: August 30, 2011: The last giveaway winner just emailed saying that she has received the package; all three packages confirmed delivered!

*OOPS! I noted wrong polish in the post but it is Glacier Bay Blues as outlined in the giveaway details!

Dandelion Fluff!

Thats what I see when I look at these nails!

When I was out shopping for my daughter, I picked up a few Love & Beauty polishes. I can't for the life of me seem to find a name on them, but this is a gray/teal frost-ish polish that I then topped with CND Emerald Shimmer. First time using the CND shimmer product and I thought I'd use it to liven up the mani! But honestly, I think this one would have been better with a dark base, but I was able to capture the highlighted sparkles in a couple of pictures (if you click on the third picture, you can see this better!)

This mani is stamped Bundle Monster IP BM18 and BM 22, using Konad black special polish. I did have shrinkage on the ring finger as I used SV as topcoat over the stamping and this can happen when using it over dry polish.....I guess I'll have to learn to wrap my nails one of these days!
