Lest We Forget

Lest We Forget.

It's Remembrance Day here in Canada; the day we honour those who fought for our freedoms and those who continue to serve so we can continue with the freedoms we enjoy today.

This is the 12th year that I'll be sharing Remembrance Day nails; I try to do at least one mani every year as the day holds great meaning to me.  I think of what my grandfather must have gone through fighting in WWII and am thankful that he made it home.  Quite frankly, I wouldn't be here if he didn't as my father was born after he returned being one of those families who had pre and post war babies, with my dad being a post war baby.  But I am more thankful that him and others risked their lives or unfortunately lost their life so we can have the freedoms we experience today.  Our world could be a whole lot different if they hadn't fought for our freedoms so we thank them and remember them as well as those who continue to serve.  We should be thanking them everyday, not just one day a year, quite frankly.

Started with a base of two coats of Different Dimension Everything I Brew, I Brew It For You.  First, I thought this was gray, only to discover when I found the gray from this collection after I finished these nails, that in fact, this is a pale blue.  Second, I had to laugh when I read the name; all I could think of was the Bryan Adams song as it was one of the significant dance songs with my husband at our wedding so many years ago and it made me think of that.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with images from Clear Jelly Stamper CJS H-026 using Konad Red and Painted Polish Midnight Mischief, then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  I thought this was going to be the final mani but decided to do a little more.

After making stamper decals using Wistonia W-04 using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief and filling in with Colors By Llarowe Sweet Beginnings, applied sticky base coat, then applied the decals on the nails directly from the stamper.

I added a bit of the CbL on the middle finger to had a glint of holo on those poppies and touched up the words on the middle finger (wished my lettering skills with a brush were better!), then topped with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Lest We Forget

Lest we forget.

Today is Remembrance Day.  The time we honour those who have fought for our freedoms and those who continue to serve, so we can continue with the freedom we enjoy today.

I did this quick mani last night and while I was doing my nails, thought about my grandfather who fought in WWII and really, cannot imagine living in the world as I've known it my whole life if not for him and others who sacrificed so much so we have the liberties we have today.

Started with a base of two coats of Picture Polish Sharky, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using images from CjS H-2 and Messy Mansion MM078XL using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief and FUN red stamping polish.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Lest We Forget

Lest We Forget.

November 11th is Remembrance Day; the day we remember those who fought for our freedoms and those who continue to serve so that we continue to enjoy free liberties.

I've done a Remembrance Day mani every year that I've had the blog; it is a day that holds great meaning to me; not only because I am able to live in a free country but because my grandfather fought in WWII and the older I get, the more I appreciated that he and other soldiers fought and risked their lives so we have the freedoms we have today.

Started with a base of two coats of Zoya Carey, no top coat.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  I knew I was doing a gradient but what I find is that if I don't do a top coat base before the gradient, that my polish starts to come off the nail when I'm sponging versus going on the nail so I found that it helped for the gradient if I top coated first, then do the sponged gradient.  I also wait a good 10 minutes or more to make sure the base and top coat are good and dry before sponging.

Did a sponged gradient using Zoya Carey and Barry M Grey.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped words from CjS H-26 using Konad red special polish.

Added poppies from Color Club Flower using same stamping polish.  You may note that the words on the thumb don't look the same as above.  That is because I tried to use a poppy image from the same CjS plate but didn't have that great of success lining up.  When I was removing the image which was at the tip of the nail, I also took off some words so had to restamp.  And didn't stamp it that well as you can see.

Dotted centers of poppies using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.

Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.
