Blue Swirls!

I've been shopping my stash lately and have been trying to wear untrieds (aka 'new' to me polishes!) as much as possible.  Not always the case as sometimes I don't 'feel' certain polishes and it's much easier to use a favourite than keep on searching for one that speaks to me as it can be painfully time consuming sometimes to decide on what polish to use!  Does that make sense?  Am I the only one that does this?  Well, that's what I do most days - search my stash until one 'speaks' to me and then try to find a stamping image to go along with it.  I've been trying to use all my untried plates too to change things up a bit and here was another time when I used untried polishes and plate!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI Suzi-San Climbs Fiji-San with accent nails of Painted Polish Seaside Soiree, three coats.

Another one just because!

While I really liked how this turned out, I wish the beauty of the Painted Polish was a little bit more visible.  What I also really liked about this mani was that I could batch both hands!  That doesn't happen too often lol!

Bright Nails!

Today is suppose to be sunny and warm so I thought I'd share some bright nails to go along with this gorgeous weather!  I've tried to do a few spring-like nails recently so hope to share a few soon, along with Easter nails!  Anyway, these didn't turn out exactly what I had in mind but I guess they didn't turn out too badly; I know I've done worse!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls with accent nails of OPI Music is my Muse and OPI Sun, Sea and Sand in my Pants, all four (!) coats, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Made stamper decals with image from Lina All Mixed Up! 01 using MdU 5 and same base polishes to fill and then placed them.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added dots using Lina Feeling Shapely! 02 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Added a few dots using the base polishes for colour, filler and interest.  As you know, I like them busy!

I hope you're having a fantastic weekend; thanks for looking!

Layering, Gradients, Flakies and Dots --Oh My!

These nails have a whole lot going on!  Accent nails, layering, flakies, stamped gradients, three different polishes, three different stamping polishes, two different plates, a mix of newer indie polish, newer drug store brand and 'vintage' polish......sometimes it's not so obvious how much goes into doing nail art!  But I think they turned out pretty cool despite so much going on!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Maybelline Express Finish Exu-blue-rant with accent of Essie Expressie Air Dry.  Essie is just out and the Maybelline is probably on the 'vintage' side as far as polishes go.

Topped the navy nails with Fancy Gloss Rainbow Moonstone, a current indie polish - layering and flakies.  The gray were topped with Fancy Gloss Fire & Ice.  Those accent nails are drool worthy!

Did a stamped gradient on the accent nails using UC 1-03 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate, Deux 2.0 and Stamped in Taro.

Stamped the rest of the nails using same stamping polishes, with an image from Creative Shop 171.

Cool Nails!

When I can't seem to pick our a polish base and/or sometimes when I want to do quick and easy nails, I pick my tried and true favourite, Different Dimension Kiss Me Under The Light of a Thousand Stars.  I love this polish so; I have 3 bottles of it and it by far is my most used polish of any that I have wore (other than the basics like black and white bases).  I've also been trying to use some plates that I haven't used before and found this cool image that I thought would go well with the base...plus quick and easy!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Kiss Me Under the Light of a Thousand Stars, no top coat.

I like this pix as you can see the sparkle shine through a bit.  Another thing I really like about this image; you can see the beauty of the base underneath!

Hope you're having a fabulous day and thanks for looking!

More Snow Means I Can Share Another Snowflake Mani!

We got an inch or so of snow yesterday that will probably be melted by the time this gets posted but it at least gives me a reason to share yet another snowflake mani that I did this winter!  I still didn't get them all shared but I'm sure they'll make an appearance at some point.  Maybe the hottest day of the summer when we wish for cooler temperatures, who knows!  Anyway, this was my very favourite snowflake mani that I did this year so wanted to at least get it shared!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Pahlish Notorious RBG, no top coat.

Stamped using an image from Marianne Nails Professional n.31 using Painted Polish Deux 2.0.

Double stamped using images from B. Loves B.05 Let It Snow, Konad Square 29 and Lina 4 Seasons-Winter 02 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Spring Has Sprung!

I was so preoccupied with world events surrounding the corona virus (covid-19) that I failed to realize that spring has already arrived!  So I thought I would share some spring-like nails that will hopefully lift your spirits, if even just for a few minutes in case you are like me and thinking about it more than is probably good for you!

I initially had these pegged for Digit-al Dozen Unmastered Techniques week which didn't happen, this mani showed how I failed to line up the layered stamping images well.  In fact, I was so off on some of these, that I hand painted in some floral embellishments!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of three coats of Morgan Taylor Strike A Posie, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

For the layered roses, used images from UberChic UC 12-03 using MdU 68, then topped with MdU 112 and then MdU 39 for leaves.

Did accent lines using Lina Feeling Shapely! 01 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.  Still haven't mastered straight lines either; will have to keep this in mind if this theme is revisited!

Then added a couple more roses on the accent nails using same plate and polishes as noted above.  Except I didn't do any leaves using the plates, I free handed the leaves (another unmastered technique!)  This is probably the extent of my free hand skills!

Added a few dots for filler and interest.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

This was Ms. Cindy; please excuse dry cuticles, etc. but the intent here is to show that I think the line up of the layering is better on it than my other hand! How is that even possible, yet it is!  It was nice to have matching hands for once too; that doesn't happen that often!

Blue Skittles

When you don't know what you wear on your nails, you just pick a bunch of polishes and hope for the best!  That's what this skittle mani is; I couldn't pick which blue to wear on my nails and while I initially was going for a skittle gradient, these polishes aren't quite a gradient.  What I did find out though, was most of these I hadn't worn before and now that I have, I discovered I really liked a couple of them!  Sometimes, picking the polishes are as random as this!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Too Fancy skittles; starting at thumb and going clockwise:  Royal Jeans, Set Fire to the Rain, Bejeweled, Moody Blue and Lake Como, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with an image from Lina Make Your Mark 08 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Finished with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.
