Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving here in Canada; this is what I've been wearing all long weekend!

Started with skittles of fall appropriate polishes. Going clockwise starting at thumb is L'Oreal The Perfect Trench, China Glaze Desert Sun, OPI Schnapps Out Of It, OPI Don't Talk Bach To Me, and Orly Coffee Break, all two coats.

Image plates used where Blink H50 (turkey on index), Blink H15 (cornucopia), SdP 89 (turkey on middle), HB21 (leaf on ring and thumb), T41 (acorn on index and pumpkin on ring), LLC3 (pie on thumb).

Added a few dots for some colour using assortment of Konad special polishes.

Topped with SV (no pix but first picture).

Blink H plates can be obtained here.  Nail Art Decoration is located in Indonesia.  When I first contacted them to ask if they would ship to Canada, they responded no, that they only ship within Indonesia.  After emailing them again....begging that they make the plates available for international shipping....they agreed, however, agreed to registered mail and because of this, shipping was on the expensive side.  While I paid $29.20 shipping for 50 plates which is the rate for shipping 1kg or under, I've emailed them a couple times and asked if they would consider a less expensive option for just one plate as I know that other nail fanatics would be interested in just one or two and not necessarily all 50.  They have indicated there is a 500 g shipping option, but I don't know how much that is.  I don't know if it would be cheap enough for just a few plates. I'll update the post if/when I hear back!  The other thing to point out with the plates is that the images are fairly faint; while it is a good stampable image, you have to be quick for transferring and the images are on the smaller side.  The plates themselves weren't terribly expensive at $1.90 each (at least that is what the per plate cost was when I bought all 50 of the Blink H ones.)

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian nail friends....hope you had a great long weekend...and thanks for looking!

Jack-o'-Lantern Nails

Another Halloween mani I came up with recently.

Started with two coats of OPI Osaka To Me Orange.

To add a little shimmer interest, topped with one coat of Nicole by OPI Fresh Squeezed.

Added the pumpkin faces using image plates S8, D03, and A37 as well as the scary shark face (well, looks like shark to me!) from A37 on the thumb nail. This image only has one eye and I transferred the eye from the mirror image on the same plate to give the thumb image two eyes (hopefully this makes sense!!); stamped using Konad black special polish.

Added a little greenery using the leaves on IP T41 with Konad special polishes in Green and Apple Green.

Lastly, added some eyeballs for the faces using Konad special polishes in white, yellow and red (these work well for dotting as they are so heavily pigmented).

My DD thought this was the bomb and I ended up doing this mani on her nails as well.

What do you think....do you think its the bomb...or did it bomb? lol! I wore this mani last weekend and while it's probably more age appropriate for my DD, I had a lot of fun wearing it! I think I may do something along these lines for Halloween night when handing out candy as I'm sure the kids trick or treating can relate!

Thanks for looking!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the long Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and this is the mani I've been wearing all weekend.

The base colours used were Essie Barbuda Banana layered with one coat of Savvy Femme Couture Banarama (yellow nails); D2W Red Chic 2 Volcanic Lava layer with one coat of Savvy Femme Couture Orange You Happy (orange) and Miss B Rainbow unnamed brown colour.

I searched my plate stash and couldn't believe that there are no turkey image plates so during the week, I sourced all my local supply places and finally, at one store, found a couple of old packs of water decals. Stamped with Konad special polishes in Cool Red, Deep Jungle, Pastel Orange and Yellow using SdP D20 (maple leaves), fauxnad F (other leaves) and T41 (pumpkin and leave swirl above the turkey) image plates along with the water decals.

I've been having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend...the weather all weekend has been absolutely beautiful. I had my Thanksgiving turkey dinner on Saturday as we are in the process of closing up our weekend place for the season so wanted to have Sunday and Monday free to do the things we need to do (not that we want to do it because the weather has been so awesome!). Both my parents and my in laws joined us for dinner and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians....and hopefully you will enjoy this mani even if you aren't celebrating!

Fall Leaf Nails

Have the leaves started turning in your area yet? Just this past week or so, they started to turn where I live. So fall was the inspiration for this mani.

A little different eh?

Started with a base of Orly Iron Butterfly, which was from their Matte Metallic collex. This is one coat....I was just too tired to do a second as it was 1 am when I was doing this mani, which is around my usual time for finally getting time in my day (or night?) to do them lately.

Stamped using CND chrome polishes in Copper, Silver and Gold. All of these chromes work really well for stamping.

I really liked this combination of using a matte base with the chrome polishes and have already thought of a few different manis that I could recycle this look, using other plates and themes.

Used fauxnad image plates T41, D03 (not chez d plates, another D series), fauxnad m56 (Canada flag image but just used the maple leaf portion) and SdP D-14.

Unfortunately, matte polishes tend to chip. By 10 am the next morning, I already had chips and lots of tip wear so this mani was short lived.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend. Thanks for looking!

Vacation Nails-Part Six!

This is the last of my vacation nails....while I could post lots more pictures of both mani's and vacation stuff, I'm sure there's little fun for those checking out my blog in seeing "Vacation Nails-Part Seventy-Seven" lol! I fully appreciate that what I find interesting may not appeal to others.....plus I have other mani's I've already done in between these that I want to post. In addition, I've picked up the China Glaze Metro collex, did a haul of nails inc at Sephora at Eaton's Centre the day they debuted that I thought I'd share as nails inc is now available at select Sephora's in US and Canada now...plus some other exciting posts I want to share soon too! So while I have lots of inspiration from my holiday's, plus am actually going away again in a week and am sure I'll get more ideas, this will be the end of the extra shots of scenery versus my boring ol' nails!

Here's the last mani.

Who would have thought there'd be a chipmunk stamping image! I found this while going thru my image plates. I think some of these images will be cool for some fall nails too...which will be around the corner in no time!

Mani in progress. Started with two coats of China Glaze Cyberspace. While the holo may not be terribly visible, if you click on the pix, it is more obvious in some of them.

Stamping using plates T41, fauxnad F and B02.

A variety of Konad special polishes were used which where gold black pearl, deep jungle, apple green, yellow, red and chocolate.

Added a few dots to Chippy (that's what we call all the chipmunks we see)!

Then added a few random leaves around some of the images in the same colours used. This last pix was taken the next morning in the sun in an attempt to see if more holo would be obvious in Cyberspace.....but unfortuantely, the holo in the Tronica collex was very subtle....OMG collex it is not!

And here's Chippy!

To be honest, I'm not even sure they are the same chipmunk as there were lots scurrying around and I took pix over several days!

I've had a lot of fun trying to come up with mani's using the pix of my holidays as inspiration! It was actually a good opportunity to check out all my image plates again. I've come up with more inspiration of other mani's for the future which will be posted as they come to fruition.

Thanks for looking!

Vacation Nails-Part Four!

It's hard to believe I've been back to work almost two weeks and am still posting pix from my vacation! Here's another mani inspired by some nature related shots when I was away.

Here's mani in progress: Started with skittles. Colours starting from thumb and clockwise are Essie Splash of Grenadine, OPI Osaka-To-Me-Orange, China Glaze Entourage, OPI DC Cherry Blossom and Essie Shelter Island. All two coats.

Then stamped to match the pix below from my holidays as my inspiration. Image plates used were fauxnad's T39, T41, T44, T20, H30 and B03 with a variety of Konad special polishes.

Lastly added a few dots using the colours of the mani (blue is Essie Shelter Island and the orange is OPI Osaka-To-Me-Orange) and white (used Konad special white for dots).

The two nails I liked the most were the thumb and index...I think I may do another mani with just the images and colours from these two nails....another mani, another day! I think the purple and orange are kinda cool together!

These are the pix that inspired the mani:

I just realized when I posted these pix that the above pix has a bee on the flower on the left. Never noticed it before now or my skittles may have included yellow with bees!

We spent a few evenings fishing off the dock...if the mosquitoes weren't too bad, that is. This was one of the fish caught...and later released.

As we were fishing, some ducks swam right up to the dock! We decided to feed them our worms, which put an end to our fishing that night!

One night when I was scanning the waters edge to take pix of fish by the shoreline, all of a sudden this massive thing was seen in the water. You would have thought I seen Jaws as it seemed so huge and out of place and I was all excited about it...it literally was a foot from the shoreline and then went right under the dock where I was standing. It turned out to be a beaver...a little bit down the river, it finally surfaced.

Blue jay at the feeder at the cottage. The birds and chipmunks were entertaining to watch as we relaxed on the deck when we weren't out sight seeing or shopping.

I hope I'm not boring you terribly with my vacation pix! I can fully understand what was interesting for me may not appeal to everyone...especially when there's nothing too exciting in these pix!

Thanks for looking!
