Stars

I've had this mani in archives for almost two months so thought I'd share as part of the blues-posting-fest in support of Autism Awareness for April.  I have enough mani's archived now to do a blue mani post every day between now and the 30th but the kicker will be if I have enough time to do type up the posts to go along with them!  I guess if I don't get around to getting them posted before the 30th, they'll show up at some point!  (I already know I won't get them all posted because I started to type this Wednesday and it's late Friday night by the time I'm finally finishing this post and already know a busy weekend is planned, so the rest of the blues will be posted at a later time.)

Started with a base of two coats of Glitter Gal Marine Blue.  This has no topcoat.

Stamped using white Konad special polish using MJ IV (thumb and middle), Apipila 01 (index), Big SdP B (pinky) and XXL Big SdP-01 (ring).

Topped with Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Fast Dry top coat.

I'm now sporting other colours on my nails even thought I'll still be sharing blue mani's until the end of the month.  As much as I love blues...and it certainly is a good cause....it is nice to see another colour on my nails other than blue! They too will show up at another time lol!

Have a great weekend....we are finally going to be getting some nice weather...time for some yard work....thanks for looking!

Blue Holo Zippers

It's getting towards the end of the month-long posts of blues in support of Autism Awareness.  To try to mix the blues up a bit, I did a few mani's with different finishes; this is what I did using holo!

Started with a base of one coat of Color Club Over the Moon, no topcoat.

I still cannot believe how holo these Color Club's are...I find myself reaching for them time and time again for a little pick me up or when I'm pressed for time and want to change my mani because one coat gives such great coverage and it takes no time at all to do a quick mani plus....that holo!!!!  Based on these pix, I probably could have done a second coat as a couple fingers look a little brush strokey, but only evident in macro ....and XL size!

Stamped using white Konad special polish using XXL Big SdP-01.  This image is mirrored and I used both of them for this mani.

Loved how the thumb turned out!

The stamping on my left hand wasn't that good; I'm not sure if this was because of the image or the stamp slipping from the moisturizer on my cuticles which sometimes happens. Here's a rare glimpse at my right where the stamping is shown a little better.

Because this is such a busy mani with so much stamping and the holographic glare, I took a pix outside but kind of shaded my hands; you can see the stamping a little better.

Hope you're having a great week; thanks for looking!

Cats!

I did this tribute mani for a nail gal pal who recently lost her beloved pet recently.  Her cat was black; her favourite colour green...this is what I came up with.

Started with two coats of Butter London Dosh.  I had bought this colour not terribly long ago as I thought it would be a great base for a Halloween mani...but decided to try it for this mani instead.

Stamped!  All using black Konad special polish using DRK-A (thumb and index), XXL Big SdP-1 (cat in middle finger), HB37 (paw prints on pinky and middle), Konad m2 (heart on middle) and BM206 (ring).

Topped with coat of SV.  The pix above is without SV; the one below...topcoat just makes the stamping pop so much more!

Hope you're having a great weekend...right now I'm in the midst of doing my nails for the FB Adventures in Stamping mani...waiting for the base to dry before I stamp it so I thought I'd quickly type a post while waiting!

Thanks for looking!

Happy Easter! Plus a Yummy Bonus!

Happy Easter!

I'm just getting around to posting this now and the day is almost over! I was busy in the morning with my family, left my house around 1 pm to go to extended family, had dinner and am just getting home now! This is the mani I've been wearing all day. Click to enlarge if you want to see some larger rainbows!

Started with a base of two coats of FingerPaints Black Expressionism.

Stamped using China Glaze OMG using A35 (thumb), T21 (words on middle and basket on index), and XXL Big SdP-01 (middle, pinky and ring). (See the knick on my thumb? That was the "Easter Bunny" opening a bag of eggs last night to hide while her nails where still wet and the scissors slipped a little putting a gouge in her mani!)

Added a few random dots to finish it off using China Glaze DV8 and IDK.

Topped with SV.  This morning, I took a pix outside in the sun with a Cadbury egg I borrowed from one of my kids baskets!

This was my mani contribution for the Adventures in Stamping challenge this week too.

For something a little different, I just thought I'd share the dessert I took to our family dinner. Yummy Brownie Triffle in my bunny bowl! Its not only yummy as can be, but easy as pie.

These are the ingredients you need...brownies, chocolate pudding, Skor chips and whipped topping.

Make brownies and pudding according to directions. When cool, cut brownies into bite size pieces, layer in bowl. Add pudding on top of brownies, add whipped topping on top of pudding, sprinkle with Skor chips. That's it!  For a double batch, you will need one more box of brownies and one more pudding box, but the large size of Cool Whip is enough as is one bag of Skor Chips.  For a couple batch, do two layers of each in a large bowl.  It's best if it sits overnight, keep refrigerated.  I had a large bowl and was feeding a lot of people so did a double batch so used double the ingredients which makes a lot! But it makes a lot even without doubling it. And in a pinch, I've used those store bought bite-size brownies too.

Hope you had a great day! Thanks for looking!

Disney Easter Nails

I try to come up some not very typical mani's for themes and holidays....and I don't think this is a *typical* Easter mani! lol!  This is what I came up with last night.

Started with a base of OPI Hopelessly in Love as underwears along with four coats of China Glaze Innocence. Five coats of polish and you can still see VNL! Urghhhh!

Stamped some dotted french tips using CH22 with Konad black special polish. Didn't do too bad of a job lining up the french tips!  They are my nemesis...middle finger wasn't the greatest but not bad all in all!

Added Mickey and Minnie using SdP 40 for Mickey and SdP 16 for Minnie.

Then stamped in the super adorable Mickey and Minnie Easter Egg using W211, which was the one plate I wanted to use for this mani.   I went through my plate stash looking for other images to go along with this one image alone to come up with a Disney Easter theme.  Kinda, anyway....the bunny, while cute, isn't Disney but he screams Easter....I am going to try to fit him in another mani before Sunday as I think he is cute beyond belief!  The bunny is from XXL Big SdP-01 and the egg on pinky is W211.

Random dots using Konad Red and White special polishes.

Topped with SV and done!

I'm probably wayyyy too old to be wearing these Disney Easter nails but I adore them...they are an 11 out of 10 on the cuteness scale! Good thing age is just a number, right? lol!

Have you done an Easter mani yet?  Are you planning on doing one if you haven't yet?

Thanks for looking!

Hippity Hop

This was my contribution to the Adventures in Stamping weekly challenge on April 1st which had the theme...no stamping. What a challenge! Do a mani and not stamp it? Maybe it was a joke?! Anyway, I wasn't nearly as creative as the other gals who did some awesome water marbling, freehand designs or decals, which proved fairly popular but I never thought of it to be honest...I just thought I'd do a little layering (with the thought I'd stamp it later and not just post it! ha!).

With Easter quickly approaching, I was eager to use a polish I received a couple weeks ago from Girly Bits called Hippity Hop to start some Easter mani's. Here's what I came up with.

Feel free to click to enlarge for a better view of the shimmer and glitter!
Started with a base of Ulta Cream of the Crop. This is three coats as it was pretty streaky and thin; three coats was needed to get good coverage and to even it out.

This is one coat of Girly Bits Hippity Hop over Ulta Cream of the Crop.

While this was pretty, I was really looking for a more glitter goodness to add to this mani so added a second coat which can be seen below. Now we're talking!  For me, two coats was good...just enough to add lots of sparkle interest while clearly leaving the base polish visible.

Hippity Hop is just full of surprises!  Beautiful shimmer!  Blue, pink, purple, green AND holo glitter in  a variety of sizes.  Gorgeous!  I hope my pix do the polish justice!

Here's a bottle pix.

Hippity Hop is the creation of Pam, the founder of Girly Bits**, a fellow Canadian gal...you can check out her blog ...and order this polish... here.

I always had it in my mind that I was going to stamp this mani and thought this would be a good kickstart to some Easter mani's...but wasn't thrilled with the results. I think it was poor choice in stamping polish which wasn't very dark.

Image plates used were Big SdP A (thumb) Big SdP F (index) Big SdP A (middle) XL A (ring) and XXL Big SdP-1 (pinky) using violet pearl Konad stamping polish which was didn't stamp opaque at all...wished I had have used Sally Hansen Royal Purple Chrome or something that didn't look so wishy washy.  Thank goodness stamping failures are easily fixed with some cotton and acetone...and just another excuse to do my nails again!

Thanks for looking!

**Please note that I paid the invoiced amount in full for this polish. I do not endorse nor promote this website/etailer other than I am passing on the info of where I got the polishes to those who may wish to know. Black and White Challenge

Some of you will know that I ventured over to Adventures in Stamping, thanks to an invite from a fellow Canadian gal! So thank you Marcia! This weeks challenge was Black and White...perhaps if you already follow fellow blogging gals who are part of the group, you'll have noticed the amazing, sophisticated black and white mani's they've been posting today. Mine wasn't one of those sophisticated ones, that's for sure! lol!

A cow mani was the first thing I thought of when I thought of black and white. Started with a base of two coats of OPI Bride's Bouquet.

Stamped using Konad black special polish. (I've had a couple disappointments with KC black with a stamping not being dark enough, so alas, back to Konad. I haven't given up on KC, but for the time being, I'm back to using Konad again.) Image plates used were XXL Big SdP-1 (index), SdP 44 (ring) and fauxnad F2 (rest of fingers and thumb).

Added a french tip using fauxnad F2 on the index finger and then did freehand printing under cow head on ring finger.

Topped with SV.

I was really astonished at the creativity that everyone came up with by using two simple, basic colours, black and white.

Hope you had a great weekend! Thanks for looking!

Layla Magneffects

While out shopping last weekend, I stopped by Rexall/PharmaPlus to see if they had any new polish collections...unfortunately, they didn't have anything new but I did find Layla Magneffects on sale...for $3.96!

The sale tag actually said $7.96, down from $15.99. At half price, I had two at the check out. But when I was cashing out, the cashier says, "Oh wow, these are ringing up at $3.96"; I said, "well just a second while I pick up a few more!" This is the mani I came up with when I finally sat down to use one of them.

Layla Silver Galaxy over one coat of OPI Black Onyx. See my index finger? I kinda messed up the magnet...I guess it takes a little bit of practice for the magnet placement just like you have to practise at your stamping!

It annoyed me that I didn't line up the magnet the same as the other fingers plus I hit my nail on the magnet, so I did another coat of black on the index finger and then redid it.

Well apparently, I STILL need practise because it turned out worse than the first time! It was far to late to redo it, so I left it like this for stamping. I used White Konad special polish with an image from XXL Big SdP-1.

Lastly added a few random dots using CND Smoochie.

Finished it off by adding a coat of SV.

Just before I took it off, I decided to matte it using Essie Matte About You (please excuse the tip wear and dry cuticles!)

There were a couple of the Layla's that I was still looking for, so I was checking out my local stores yesterday...some stores still have them; any of the displays I seen now have tags marked $3.96 on the display too...and sometimes they are in plastic bins in the clear out section...but the selection is dwindling down so I'd suggest that if you are wanting these, that you check out your local Rexall/PharmaPlus soon! Let's hope they are making way for the Layla holographics!

Hope you're having a great weekend...and thanks for looking!

Family Day Mani...for Family Day!

Today is Family Day in Ontario...aka...an excuse for a long weekend in February! I thought I'd do a mani about my family; this is what I came up with!

I'm on the thumb...a coffee loving, card playing, nail fanatic!

Next is DH. He loves the Toronto Maple Leafs, playing cards...and eating! That cupcake was suppose to be on my nail as I'm the baker and I had another food image for his nail...just not enough room!

Middle finger is DS1. No, he's not a closet Jason! lol! That's a goalie mask as DS is a goalie for lacrosse....right now, he's playing for a JrA lacrosse team in our area...is was also on Team Ontario, who won the National Championship this past summer for his age group...ya, he lives, eats and breathes lacrosse! He's also a big gamer....but I chose to add a pair of earphones as, typical of most teens...at least any I know of, he has a wire hanging out of at least one of his ears from his ipod most of the time.

Ring finger is DD...the butterfly is for Ms. Social Butterfly...also a makeup loving, shop 'til she drops teen...who has a massive sweet tooth, hence the candy! Too bad that I mumble stamped all these together...she's also loves to sing and dance...I had stamps set aside for her nail for this too...just not enough space on my little nails.

Pinky is DS2...a massive gamer too, hence Pikachu! In addition to gaming (when he's not eating, sleeping or breathing), he also likes to swim as well play with his pal Spike...who's right on the tip of the nail!

Base colours, two coats, starting at thumb, are Duri Taming of the Shrew, SpaRitual Circle of Life, China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise (3 coats), CND Sweet (this could be a one coater but I did two), and LA Girl Disco Brites Psychedelic (3 coats).

Stamped using white Konad special polish using unnamed/unmarked fauxnad for coffee, fauxnad m56 (leaf), NailArt Diva WBO8-4 (mask and hockey stick), Lilic A02 (shoe), CH17 (lipstick), CH6 (candy), Lilic A01 (cupcake), SdP 57 (nail polish bottle and butterfly) and m48(cards), CH27 (headphones), and XXL Big SdP-01(doggy).

Added a few hearts and stars by isolating them from the full size plate images on KD3.

Lastly, added a few random dots and topped with SV.

Hope you had a good weekend...its going to be tough going back after three days off though!
