In My Candy Cane Era!

I did these nails the night I got this plate in the mail from Clear Jelly Stamper from their BlaFri sale
and man, anyone who says stamping isn't an art hasn't stamped these thin lines on their nails!  I had an image that even had the words on it from the thumb but I could not get it to stamp, so did letters.  Not my best work but hey, they didn't look so bad to the eye, only in macro!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Pahlish Peppermint Luffs (FTLOP Rewind) and Different Dimension Jingle Bell Rock on the thumb.  I used the Pahlish as I wanted something different than all white nails and thought it was a mistake, but no, liked it better than the white.  Next time, I think I'll only use it!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped CjS C-100 on all nails except thumb using Painted Polish Blanc Slate, CjS 062 and Moyra SP19.  Stamped candy cane on thumb using image from CjS C-62 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate and CjS 062, then letters from Nailways Back To Basics 123 ABC using CjS 062.

I had planned on using an image from this plate, Lantern & Wren In My Merry Era; however, I just couldn't get the image to transfer and look good no matter what polish or stamper I used, so abandoned it and did letters.

Using this mani too for #Music Mani Monday; Sia's Candy Cane Lane!

Happy Family Day!

It's Family Day here in Ontario; I did these nails with the thought of families sharing time together outdoors having some winter fun!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a sponged gradient of Color Club Factory Girl and Sinful Colors Show and Teal.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Applied stamper decals from What's Up Nails B035 (thumb), BM-XL484 (index), Sugar Bubbles SBS 02 (middle), Delaney Hiver A002 (ring) and Delaney Hiver A001 (pinky).  The ring finger was stamped with image from Lesly Winter Mood 2 before applying the stamper decal.  Words on thumb are from Nailsways Back to Basics ABC 123.

Added random snowflake images for filler and interest using Konad Square 29.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  I didn't notice the stamping smear until I posted these; too bad but these nails took a long time and I guess I should have waited a bit longer before top coating.

I was going for an old fashioned kind of look, so topped with Glisten  Glow matte to get that vintage look.

Reapplied top coat to finish.

Hope you are enjoying your long weekend if you have it off....or a great Monday for everyone else!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vacation; Day 3

I'm torn about sharing nails for today; it's game 6 in the Raptors v. Warriors tonight and the Raptors could take the NBA Championship...but doing Digit-al Dozen vacation mani's all week soooo, this mani is going to do double duty as in Toronto is a popular vacation destination and when on vacation, you might take in a local sports event or might even take a holiday to see a game specifically and in this case. to go see the Raptors play, right?  Well, that's what I'm sticking with; here's what I came up with for my day 3 mani!  Go, Raptors, Go!

Started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls with accent nails of Color Club Disco Dress, two coats each, no top coat.

Applied a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I made stamper decals using images from Creative Shop 70 (thumb) and MJ XXIV (index and pinky) using MdU 1 and 2 then filled with Zoya Sonia.  Basketball on pinky was filled in with MdU 13).  And while I'm pretty much a stamping polish snob in that I rarely stamp with regular polishes (well, except FunkyFingers Gesso and Dark Knight which are my go to black and white stamping polishes), I discovered that Zoya Sonia stamped well too; so stamped index with UberChic Sports Fan-01 and Creative Shop 70 (middle). I actually had the hardest time finding a polish that was the right shade of Raptors red based on the examples I could find on the net and to make sure it showed up well enough on the Color Club Disco Dress; this was the closest I could find.  I think it matched pretty good!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added letters to ring finger using Nailways Back to Basics 123 ABC using FunkyFingers Gesso and did the signature claws freehand on the index finger using OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

Added words to middle finger using MdU 2 using same Nailways Back to Basics 123 ABC plate.

Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  And while I would normally be annoyed at the MdU polish feathering on the lettering, I'd like to think today that it is claw marks and the Raps are going to claw their way back and take it in 6!

Digit-al Dozen Does Books; Day 2

As I couldn't think of a mani to do with a book that I have read, I got to thinking, what type of books are there?  Comic books came to mind; one of my favourites as a kid were the Archie comic books and my day 2 mani is inspired by them!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Pahlish Sailing the Hispaniola, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Applied stamper decals that I had made using FUN 11 (Veronica, Archie and Betty) and MJ XXII (Jughead).  I used regular nail polishes for the filling in and the skin tone was a pretty transparent nude by Essie so unfortunately, it wasn't very opaque and some of the base can be seen under the skin.  I'll have to remember to use something more opaque next time. The thumb lettering is Nailways Back to Basics 123 ABC.

Added dots for filler and interest using same colours as on decals; CND Bicycle Yellow, China Glaze That'll Peach You and FunkyFingers Gesso.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Books; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  Our theme this month is books!  The book lover in me loves the theme but try as I might, I had a hard time coming up with mani's related to books.  But the great thing about the group is that we can each do our own interpretation of the theme which really gives us some unique manis for the challenges!  Anyway, this is my day 1 mani for book week!

I had made the stamper decals for the mani in advance and wanted a colour that would go nicely with them.  Decided on brights; this is two coats of KBShimmer Lei It Again, no top coat.  I am loving this colour; what a nice pick me up!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Did a sponged gradient using the same KB and CND Raspberry Parfait.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  Unfortunately, the gradient was lost in most of the stamping, but I love how this turned out and will keep it in mind for a future mani.

After a coat of sticky base, applied the stamper decals that I had made.  Used images from MJ JR-2 and MdU 3, 52 and 66.

Shadow stamped the thumb and the letters above the book on the pinky using image from Marianne Nails n.132.  All images on the index are from MJ JR-2 as are the I Heart on the ring finger.  Unfortunately, the books from the MJ JR-2 (as seen on the index) was far too large to fit and even with the smaller letters from Nailways Back to Basics ABC 123 which I ended up using, still didn't fit that well but I tried.  Hopefully you get it anyway!

Digit-al Dozen Does 5th Birthday; Day 1!

It's the Digit-al Dozen's 5th Birthday!!  Our theme this month is all about 5's ....or birthday's...however, it is interpreted by all the members!

For my first mani, I did "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere!"  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a sponged gradient using Nicole by OPI Hit The Lights, Nars Ethno Run Left and Nicole by OPI Please Red-cycle.

Applied KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped images from Chez Marin 004 (thumb and pinky), Delaney Marin 004 (boat on ring and sun on middle), Lina Coffee, Tea or Gonuts! (words on middle), Nailsways ABC 123 (number on middle), and Chez Marin 003 (footprints on middle, seagulls on ring and index and palm trees on index), using Mdu 2.  I had also applied a coat of CND Stickey to help application as the Chez plates are shallow and dry very fast.
