Digit-al Dozen Does Rainbows; Day 5

Here I am again super late for Day 5 Digit-al Dozen rainbow challenge so sorry about that; this mani is also doing double duty for 40 Great Nail Art Ideas does summer challenge!  Here's what I came up with!

Started by making a couple stamper decals using an image from Infinity 34 and acrylic paints.  I made two because wasn't sure which one would turn out better on the nail but glad that I did as I ended up cutting them and using them both because the images were too large for one nail.

Did a coat of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls on three fingers then attempted some water marbling using Pipe Dream Polish High Roller, All In, 110 Degrees, Light of Day and Peace Out.

I had planned on using a full stamper decal on the thumb but when the image was too big, decided to cut it down and used half on the thumb and then the other half along with some of the clouds on the middle.  So had to add base polishes to both these nails; the middle is again OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and the thumb is Polish M A Quiet Mind.

Used both stamper decals.

Stamped index finger using MoYou 408 and MoYou Tourist Collection-17 on ring and pinky.  The birds on the thumb are also from MoYou Tourist 17.  Stamping polish is FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

Digit-al Dozen Does Rainbows; Day 4

For Day 4 of Digit-al Dozen rainbow challenge, I'm sharing a mani with all the colours under the rainbow! (Well, except the red is more pink but we allow our own individual interpretation of the theme so it's still good, right?).  Its a bit of a stretch but I did see some other DD ladies using pastels and neons earlier in the week so I guess I can too even thought I think I've been fairly literal with the theme so far.  Not that that's an issue; we can each interpret the theme as we wish and there's lots of flexibility; I just don't think I'm as creative as the rest! Haha! Here's what I came up with!

The night I did these nails, I had no particular thought or theme or colour or anything in mind...well, that's most nights lol!  So I was searching my stash looking for something that might strike me and came across KBShimmer Upside Round. It's fun and bright and colourful, perfect for our summer weather lately and its what stuck me that night.  So grabbed it and then decided it was going to be part of the mani, but had to come up with base colour(s).  My first thought was neon pink or skittles but then thought that if I use pink for example, then the pink glitter dots wouldn't show up.  So thought that the colours would pop on a black base, so did two coats of FunkyFingers Dark Knight topped with a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Did an accent of KBShimmer Upside Road by applying it on a latex sponge then sponging it on until I was happy with the coverage.

I wanted to stamp on dots in the same colours as the glitter dots so stamped using assortment of MdU polishes using an image from Delaney French A001....but it just wasn't what I was looking for (this is why I always do my right hand first; its my test hand!) with the main concern being I wanted a brighter pop of colour to match the glitter.  The thumb is MdU Neon Yellow for example; had it really stamped neon yellow, it would be golden, but...well, you see.

Delaney French A001

So I thought how can I save this mani considering I already have an accent of glitter on my nails....so decided to do some glitter fishing and placement for a funky french with an orange stick using the same glitter from KBShimmer Upside Round.  Topped it with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Rainbows; Day 3

Today is Flag Day so I combined Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen rainbow challenge and came up with a variety of flags including the LGPT Flag to make it challenge appropriate!

Started by making assortment of stamper decals using MdU polishes and acrylic paints.  I did the rainbow flag a couple nights ago and as a result it was a little on the brittle side so some of the paint flaked off but it wasn't the easiest to make so I decided to use it anyway.  I can't begin to say how much time I spent on that one image; looking up line plates then measuring them against my nail to see that six lines would fit, tried making lines using nail vinyls, then used nail stencils; after lots of trial and error and placement, went with Chez Divers 003.  Did three stripes using the image, then filled in the lines using other colours.  Also used images from MoYou Tourist Collection 02 (American flag), MoYou N16 (Union Jack), Chez Divers 003 (LGBT flag), MoYou Tourist Collection 03 (flag of France), Konad A1 (Australian flag) and CNF Custom with Fig Tree (Canadian flag).

I used a clear stamper for the first time for the American flag and I have to say, it is so nice to see everything as you go along; I'll have to keep it in mind for stamper deals in the future!  After I applied a couple of the stamper decals onto the nail, I noticed little bits that were missed as I paint onto a dark base but its a lot easier so see how you are doing with a clear stamper!

Applied the decals directs to the middle, pinky and thumb and did some filling in on the nails to fill as well as fixed up the rainbow flag a bit more.  For the index and ring finger, applied two coats of Jade Cremoso Alga Marinha; then applied the British Flag direct to the index.  For the ring, stamped on a couple clouds using Konad m79 using FunkyFingers Guesso, then added the Canadian flag.

I did a stamper decal using MoYou Tourist Collection-03 but didn't end up using it; not enough fingers!

Applied a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Did a touch up on a couple flags then added another coat of top coat to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Rainbows; Day 2

It's Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen rainbow week; I did rainbow skittles!

For the skittles, used all Jade Holografico polishes; Deja Vu, Hypnose, Oasis, Fascinio Violeta and Mirage; all are two coats except Hypnose and Fascinio Violeta, which are three.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using an image from Nail Matinee NM 07 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  This is one of my current fave images; I've used it a few times now.  It's one of those images that is interesting yet you see the beauty of the base through which I look for often when stamping.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Rainbows; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week; our theme this week is rainbows.  The timing of our theme could not be more appropriate given the recent shootings in Orlando; I was so shocked, then saddened and disappointed when I heard the news over the weekend; I just could not believe that such a senseless event occurred with the murder of so many innocent people.  Such a terrible tragedy and so many lives cut short; my thoughts are with the families of everyone involved.

For Day 1's mani, I did a rainbow mosaic; it didn't turn out like I had envisioned but they rarely do!

Started by doing stamper decals using acrylic paints and an image from Apipila Super Placa D.  This was way more work than any decal I've done so far.  The lower left hand one was the best; it was done on a light headed stamper so could see so much better what needed to be filled in; the rest were on double ended Konad which was dark so unfortunately had a few misses.  Maybe on of these days I'll like making on a mat better....and as it turns out, I totally wrecked the first one anyway and then had to hastily do another (which went on the ring finger) in between applying these.

Applied to the nail and trimmed down as needed.

Finished with a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Cindy was done a little different; started with a base of CND skittles.

Stamped using same image from Apipila Super Placa D.

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas Does Mint Green

I did a quick 40 Great Nail Art Ideas mani before heading to work this morning; this weeks theme is mint green and I had added prompt of splatter!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of three coats of Delush Polish Amazemint, no top coat.  I found that it was best to wait a few minutes between coats for the polish to dry; I didn't do this on the index finger and then had some polish pull so it doesn't sit as nice on the nail as the rest of them for this reason, having to add a little thicker coat because of this.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.  Had some polish wrinkling due to the thickness of the top coat and base polish again on the index finger.  If I had more time, I would have done this nail again but it was before work this morning so didn't have any extra time.

For the splatter, I was going to do real polish splatter but too messy and not enough time so went with stamping splatter using MJ X and MoYou stamping polish in Ever Green.

Topped it all off with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Have a great weekend; thanks for looking!

What I Did Last Summer

I know, you were thinking of something really cool and interesting, but nope, just some fun and colourful nails!

Started with a base of two coats of Quo by Orly Blue Beat, topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Did an accent of Quo by Orly Epic Remix.

Stamped using an image from MJ XLV using Funky Fingers Gesso.

I picked out some of the glitter from Quo by Orly Epic Remix and used it to dot the flower centers.

Topped everything off with a coat of KBShimmer What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Hopefully I can do something more fun than colourful nails this summer!  I actually have a few things in the works, that I think will be cool and fun anyway; I'll share them in posts later on!
