I did this mani one lazy Saturday afternoon while in cottage country. I had spent the prior lazy Saturday afternoon in cottage country making a bunch of jelly polishes and was anxious to see how they worked! Not too shabby if I do say so myself!
Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. The black stamping polish was Milani black (and poor clean up I see!). The plates used were Infinity 68 (index, middle and ring) and Infinity 40 (thumb and pinky).
Filled in using both a dotting tool and a brush using lots of different jelly polishes; some of the polishes were the ones I made, others were store bought that were in my stash.
While I really like the sheers with glitter in them, they weren't my favourite when used in this mani. I liked these three nails best!
Top coated to finish.
How about a creepy macro of the parrot? (Can you tell he was my favourite nail?)
I was glad to test run some of my homemade jellies on this mani; it gave me a good idea of which polishes worked well for leadlighting and some that aren't as good as well as a good idea of clear to creme ratio. One things for sure; I will be checking out my stash for polishes to use to make a few more! The empty bottles I ordered just arrived....I see another lazy Saturday afternoon in cottage country making jelly polishes in my future!
Thanks for looking!
sehr schick, find ich richtig klasse;)
ReplyDeleteWow, I love this! The parrots are too cool!
ReplyDeletethat´s awesome! I like the way you colored it... lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is simply stunning. I'm in literal awe of this mani!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love that you made your own jellies--the possibilities are endless now. :)
ReplyDeleteYou bet! I just got more empty bottles to make more......!
DeleteGreat job! I'm gonna make some jellies, but I'm hesitant because I'm nervous about it.
ReplyDeleteI bought cheap WetnWilds and NYX's; paid no more than $1.50 a bottle so not a big investment if they didn't work out! I also bought the cheapest clear I could get (NYX I believe it was). I used about half a bottle of clear with anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 of creme (depends on how opaque the polish is already and then a dabbled a bit by adding more clear or polish til I got it the colour/consistency I was looking for.) I set aside all the polishes I used to make them in case when I started to use them I needed to add more colour. And if there is too much colour, it's just a matter of adding more clear to thin. HTH!
DeleteI LOVE this! Using the jellies adds a beautiful almost stained glass effect, and your instructions for making your own have definitely inspired me to experiment when I get the time. :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and colorful :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese look really great I'm yet to try this method. & I loved that you photographed the three nails you liked the most!
