New Year's Nails

I'm terribly late in getting up a New Year's mani but was finally able to some on New Year's Day!  I thought these turned out kind of cool.... then it made me kind of sad that I didn't have time to do more New Year themed mani's....oh, well, c'est la vie!  This is what I up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Sally Hansen Satin Glam 08 Silk Onyx**.  This was part of a surprise promotional box of Sally Hansen products that I received just before Christmas. (Pssst.....I was thrilled to see that there are six new colours of Sally Hansen Sugar Shimmers being released too!)

There are eight Satin Glam's that will be released including this one, Silk Onyx. Sally Hansen Silk Onyx dries to a satin finish and has the added interest of sparkle (aka tiny pearl particles as mentioned in the promotional brochure).

Application was easy and coverage was good in two coats; I may have been able to get away with one coat if I had have been more careful.

Stamped fireworks as a backdrop using assortment of Mundo de Unas stamping polishes and images from HD-E.

Added more images using same HD-E plate using yellow Mundo de Unas stamping polish.

While I really liked this satin look, I have a need to topcoat all mani's so added a coat of HKGirl QD topcoat to finish.

When I showed my daughter the finished nails, her first comment was that the sparkle in the base polish looked like stars in the sky.  While I didn't have this in mind specifically when I chose SH Silk Onyx as the base, I think she is right and it adds an interesting twinkling star quality on the backdrop of the fireworks!

There is a wide arrangement of new Sally Hansen products that will be released soon across Canada including the Satin Glams, Sugar Shimmers, gel polishes, nail polish stripes and new colours of Insta Dri polishes.  Sally Hansen is also releasing an assortment of nail art products for DIY use which includes embellishment kits, nail art stripers, tool kits, and nail art pens (one of which I used earlier in this post). Some of these products I've already already seen launched at local retailers and all products will be available by February 2014.

Thanks for looking!

  7. So festive! And this is the first swatch I've seen of a Satin Glam--I sort of lost a few weeks there for looking at nail stuff so now trying hard to catch up. :)
